Bismarck-towers are a unique German monument-phenomenon to honor the ex-chancellor Otto von Bismarck (1815 - 1898). The towers were built on four continents (Australia, South America, Africa and Europe).

172 of 240 Bismarck-towers, including new discovered towers, still remained in Germany, Austria, France, the Czech Republic, Russia, Poland and Chile.

On this website you can get extensive information about all known Bismarck-towers, about the former chancellor and cult-figure Otto von Bismarck, the German Bismarck-myth and some selected tower-architects.

Besides there are statistic tower-comparisons as well as current and historic pictures of the towers.

Journey guides, information about opening hours and the mentioning of contact persons for towers are in preparation.

I have used extended sources to fill this website with detailed contents. The most important source for me is the standard book < Bismarck-Tuerme and Bismarck-Saeulen > from Guenter Kloss and Sieglinde Seele (Michael Imhof Verlag Petersberg 1997). I also use the periodical Zeitschrift des Bismarck-Bundes (1901 - 1914), architecture-magazines, historic press-reports, brochures etc.

I can recommend the excellent work of Mrs. Seele and Mr. Kloss. Mrs. Seele has discovered all Bismarck-towers (state: 1997) and catalogued and described them.

On this website she describes two additional towers not mentioned in her book. Meanwhile we discovered further Bismarck-towers, all exclusively presented on this website for the first time.

I'm very glad about all received notes and supplements (letters and emails). I've never realized such a great feedback from all over the world. My big thanks for all helpers (see gratitude site).
